This Privacy Policy explains how Vegochef OÜ ("Vegochef", "we", "us") handles your personal data when you use the Vegochef app and vegochef.com (the "Services"). We are the controller of your data.

In short: we collect what the app needs to plan your meals and track your nutrition. Analytics and advertising measurement only run if you agree. We never sell your data. You can delete your account in the app at any time.
1. What data we collect
Account data. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by Firebase Authentication), or the details Apple or Google share when you sign in with them. If you use "Hide My Email" with Apple, we only receive the relay address. Optional profile photo.
Food preferences and plans. Your diet type (for example vegan or vegetarian), food restrictions and allergies, favourite and custom recipes (including photos you upload), meal plans, snacks and supplements, grocery lists, water intake, unit system and app settings.
Health-related data. If you use the macro calculator or set personal targets: weight, height, age, sex, activity level, goal (for example lose, maintain or gain), calorie and macro targets, and personal vitamin and mineral targets. This is special-category data under the GDPR. We process it only with your explicit consent and only to calculate and show your targets.
Shared grocery lists. If you share your grocery list, we store a copy of it (item names, amounts and categories, and which items are ticked off) with a random link, so the people you send the link to can open it in a browser at vegochef.com/list/ and tick items off. The shared page shows no name, email or other account details, and it has no cookies or tracking. Anyone who has the link can see and tick the list, so send it only to people you trust.
Disclaimer acknowledgment. When you confirm the "Before you start" screen, we store the time and the version of the text you confirmed.
Reminders and messages. Which reminders you turned on, their times and your time zone; whether you opted in to "new recipes and weekly tips", with the time of your choice.
Subscription data. Whether you are on a free trial or subscription, its price, start, renewal, cancellation and expiry dates. Payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never see your card details.
Support messages. Bug reports and feedback you send in the app, and emails you send us.
Technical data. Device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address, crash reports and app-integrity checks.
Usage and advertising data (only if you agree). How you use the app (screens viewed, features used, events such as finishing onboarding or starting a trial) and app performance, and your device's advertising identifier: on iPhone the IDFA, only if you allow tracking in Apple's prompt; on Android the Google advertising ID.
Website data (only if you agree). On vegochef.com: pages you visit, links and buttons you click (for example the App Store button or a PDF download), whether you used a calculator (not what you entered), the page you came from, ad click IDs, and your browser, device, approximate location from your IP address and cookie IDs. Calculator inputs and checklist ticks stay in your browser and are never sent to us.

We do not use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Your targets are calculated with standard formulas, and you can change them at any time.
3. Your consent choices
Analytics and ads. When you first open the app, we ask whether you allow analytics and ad measurement: on Android with Allow or Not now, on iPhone through Apple's tracking prompt, where your answer is your choice. Until you agree, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring and the Meta SDK stay switched off. You can change your choice any time in Profile → Privacy. On iPhone you can also use Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and on Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Google settings.
Cookies on vegochef.com
When you first visit vegochef.com, a banner asks for your choice. Until you agree, no analytics or advertising cookies are set and Google Tag Manager does not load. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
- Necessary (always on): stores your cookie choice in your browser for 12 months. Calculator inputs and grocery checklist ticks are also kept only in your browser.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. Cookies
_gaand_ga_*, kept up to 14 months. - Marketing: Meta Pixel (cookie
_fbp, 90 days) and Google Ads conversion tracking (cookies such as_gcl_au, 90 days). They measure whether our ads lead to visits and app downloads, and let us show ads to people who visited our website.
Crash reports. Firebase Crashlytics runs for everyone, because we need crash reports to keep the app working. They are used only to fix bugs, never for advertising.
Health data. Before the macro calculator uses your body details, we ask for your consent. You can say no and set targets yourself. You can withdraw consent any time in Profile → Privacy → Remove my body details, which deletes them, or by deleting your account.
Notifications. Reminders and tips are off until you turn them on and allow notifications. You can switch each one off in the app or in your device settings. The trial reminder email can be stopped with the unsubscribe link in the email.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that work for us under data processing agreements, and only what they need.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or to a buyer if Vegochef is sold or merged. We never sell your personal data or share health data with advertisers.
5. International transfers
Our app database (Google Cloud Firestore) and some of our cloud functions are in the United States; other cloud functions run in the European Union (Belgium). Google (Analytics and Ads), Meta, RevenueCat and Algolia may also process data in the United States. We rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep data
- Account and app data: as long as you have an account. When you delete it, we delete it within 30 days; backups and logs expire within a further 30 days.
- Shared grocery lists: until you stop sharing, make a new link or delete your account, or automatically after 7 days in which nobody uses the list.
- Trial reminder records: until the reminder is sent or stopped, then deleted with your account.
- Support messages: up to 2 years after the issue is closed.
- Crash reports: 90 days. Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Purchase and invoice records: as long as Estonian accounting law requires (currently 7 years).
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Database rules let each user read only their own account. Only Vegochef staff who need it can access our systems. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
8. Children
Vegochef is meant for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has given us data, email info@vegochef.com and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, get a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time.
- Delete your account: Profile → My account → Delete account. This deletes your account and data. It does not cancel your subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. If you no longer have the app, you can ask us to delete your account at vegochef.com/delete-account.
- Everything else: email info@vegochef.com. We answer within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity.
- Complaints: you can contact the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, www.aki.ee) or the authority in your own EU country.
Outside the EU. If you live in the UK, Switzerland or a US state with a privacy law (such as California), you have similar rights to access, delete and correct your data and to opt out of targeted advertising. Declining in the consent sheet or in Apple's prompt opts you out. Email us to use any of these rights; we won't treat you differently for doing so.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For important changes we tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
