Track 29 nutrients, not just calories
Calorie counters tell you how much you ate. Vegochef shows what it gave you: 12 vitamins, 10 minerals and 7 lipids from your meals and supplements, measured against targets for your age and sex.

How it works
Targets made for you
Vitamin and mineral targets follow the US National Academies of Medicine reference values for your age and sex. You can set your own target for any vitamin or mineral.
Upper limits, too
More isn't always better. When a nutrient passes its safe upper limit, often from supplements, the bar turns red.
"What if" in one tap
Switch a meal or a supplement off to see how skipping it would change your day, before you decide.

Every vitamin, mineral and lipid has its own page: what it does for you, how much you've had today, your daily target and the safe upper limit.
- Today's amount next to your target and upper limit
- Set your own target for any vitamin or mineral
- Go back to the recommended value in one tap
Calorie and macro targets for your goal
Answer a few questions when you set up and Vegochef works out your daily energy, protein, carbohydrate and fat targets. It estimates the energy your body uses at rest with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, one of the most widely used formulas, then adjusts it for your activity and goal. Change any target whenever you like.
Your goal
Lose weight, maintain your weight, gain weight or build muscle.
Your body
Your weight, height, age and sex, used only to calculate your targets and only with your consent.
Your activity
From mostly sitting to hard training six or seven days a week.
Where a plant-based day often lands
An illustration of how the targets work, not real data. Most plant-based days easily cover vitamin C and folate; iron and calcium take more planning; B12 comes from supplements or fortified foods.
Work out your numbers first
Curious what your targets will be? Our free calculators use the same formula as the app.
- Calorie (TDEE) calculator: the calories you burn in a day, and for your goal.
- Macro calculator: grams of protein, carbs and fat.
- Protein calculator: how much protein you need, and what it looks like in food.
- What supplements do vegans need? The nutrients worth watching on a plant-based diet.
Why calories aren't enough on a plant-based diet
A day can hit its calorie and protein targets and still be low in the nutrients plant-based eaters most often miss: vitamin B12, which comes from supplements or fortified foods; iron and zinc, which plants contain but your body absorbs less easily; calcium without dairy; vitamin D in winter; and the long-chain omega-3 fats found in fish and algae. A calorie counter won't show any of this. Vegochef puts these nutrients next to your calories and macros, so you can spot a gap and fix it with food first, and with a supplement only where you need one.
