Grocery list

Your week's grocery list in one tap

Once your week is planned, the shopping list writes itself. Amounts add up across recipes, items are sorted by aisle, and you tick off what's already at home.

How it works

Add a recipe, a day or a week

"Add week to grocery list" sends every ingredient from your plan. You can also add a single recipe or day.

Amounts add up

Two recipes with chickpeas become one line with the total amount, so you buy the right quantity once.

Sorted by aisle

Vegetables, canned foods, condiments: walk the store once. Add your own items, like coffee or soap, to the same list.

Why it helps

Why shop from a meal plan?

  • Buy the right amount once. When chickpeas show up in Monday's curry and Thursday's salad, the list shows one line with the total, so you don't run out midweek or end up with three open cans.
  • Waste less food. You only buy what your plan uses. Fresh herbs, spinach and avocados get eaten instead of forgotten at the back of the fridge.
  • One trip, in aisle order. Vegetables together, canned foods together, condiments together. Walk the store once and you're done.
  • Skip what's already at home. Tick off the olive oil and spices you already have before you leave, so the list shows only what you need to buy.

Your plan writes the list

Plan breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week from plant-based recipes, or add your own. Your plan repeats every week until you change it, so next week's shopping list is one tap away too.

Tips

Five tips for an easier weekly shop

  • Plan before you shop, not in the store. Ten minutes with your week's meals saves wandering the aisles wondering what you need.
  • Check your staples first. Olive oil, spices, rice and pasta last for weeks. Tick them off the list if they're already in the cupboard.
  • Lean on cans and the freezer. Canned beans, lentils and chickpeas and frozen spinach, peas and berries are cheap, keep for months and make plant-based cooking fast.
  • Cook once, eat twice. Plan a few dinners that double as the next day's lunch. You buy fewer different ingredients and waste less.
  • Keep one list for everything. Add household items like coffee or washing-up liquid to the same list, so one trip covers it all.
Who it helps

A grocery list app for plant-based households

Most grocery list apps are blank lists you fill by hand. Vegochef's list starts from the meals you've already planned, with recipes made for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians. That makes it most useful if you cook at home several times a week, shop for two or for a family, or are new to plant-based eating and not yet sure what to buy. Not sure where to start? Our vegan meal prep guide shows how to cook for the whole week in one session.

FAQ

Grocery list questions

Can I add just one recipe or one day to the grocery list?

Yes. Add a single recipe, one day or the whole week. Everything lands on the same list, and amounts for the same ingredient are added together.

Can I add things that aren't in a recipe?

Yes. Add your own items, like coffee, soap or snacks for the kids, to the same list.

Does the list use cups or grams?

Whichever you choose. Pick metric (grams, millilitres) or imperial (cups, ounces) when you set up, and change it later in your profile.

What if I cook for two or for a family?

Set how many people you usually cook for, or change the servings of a recipe. The amounts on your grocery list follow.

Do you have a free printable grocery list?

Yes. Our vegan and vegetarian grocery list guides have printable checklists with tick boxes. The app builds a list from your own meal plan instead.
